What are some things that only electrical and electronics engineers know, but most people don't?

The time of Laptops, Netbooks and Desktops have come to an end. Why?!!!
because people from all ages are obsessed with the hand held beauty called smartphone. It's actually something we couldn't even dream of a few decades back. Now it's something we can't survive a day without. The only problem I feel with the smartphones is their poor battery backup. They discharge far too easily. And I would like to share a small but useful info regarding their charging.

While charging the smartphone from a

  1. Wall Socket the charger sources typically 1.0 Amps from the DC side. (some Apple and Nokia chargers support > 1.0 Amps)
  2. USB 2.0 port found on Laptops and Desktops the battery is charged with typically 0.5 Amps current.
  3. USB 3.0 port (blue colored one) the typical charging current is 0.9 Amps.
The more the current input to the smartphone, the more its charging rate . So next time if you are in a hurry use the wall socket or USB 3.0 port for fast charging. Use the USB 2.0 only if you have the liberty of time.
